The singer-turned-fashion designer posted a meme of a chicken floating in the ocean more than a decade after she confused chicken and tuna in an episode of her and ex Nick Lachey's 'Newlyweds'.
Jessica Simpson is still here for the chicken vs. tuna debate. Thirteen years since since she hilariously confused them in an episode of her reality TV show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica", the singer-turned-fashion designer poked fun at the gaffe in a new Instagram post.
In case you forget, Simpson made a weird comment while eating a bowl of Chicken of the Sea with her then-husband Nick Lachey in the show's first episode that aired back in 2003. "Is this chicken that I have, or is this fish?" she asked Lachey, who looked equally confused.
"I know it's tuna, but it says chicken by the sea. Is that stupid? What is it called - chicken by the sea or in the sea?" she continued, prompting Lachey to explain that Chicken of the Sea was just the brand of tuna.
"You know, 'cause a lot of people eat tuna, just like a lot of people eat chicken. Chicken of the Sea," he told her. "Oh..," Simpson then replied. "Oh, I understand now. I read it wrong."
Two years after the "Newlyweds" premiere, the show ended and so did Simpson and Lachey's marriage. They went on to tie the knot with their new lovers and have children, but the "I Belong to Me" songstress clearly still remembers the embarrassing moment with her ex.
On Monday, November 28, she reminded her fans of the debate by posting on Instagram a meme of a chicken floating in the ocean. "Maybe Jessica Simpson was on to something?" read the words written above it.
