The 'American Idol' winner is said to be 'so excited' about her unborn baby because few weeks after her horrible accident 'were the most stressful of the singer's life.'
According to OK!, the couple is "absolutely thrilled" about the baby. "They've been relying on their faith during Carrie's road to recovery but a pregnancy is completely unexpected," a source tells the publication. "It's not lost on them that great joy can come out of tragedy."
The source further explains that Carrie is "so excited" to have a new baby in their home because a few weeks after her fall "were the most stressful of the singer's life." The source also shares that she "couldn't resist sharing the news with a select few."
It appears that a new baby isn't the only positive thing that comes out after Carrie's accident. The whole ordeal has reportedly brought Carrie and Mike closer. "Mike surely blamed himself because he wasn't there when Carrie fell," the insider reveals. "He promised to stay by her side and comfort her, and he started lavishing her with attention to make her feel confident again."
"They lost their spark for a while. Between her performances and his hockey schedule, they were rarely in the same place at the same time," the source concludes.
Earlier this month, the country songstress revealed in a post to her fan club members that she sustained a facial injury which required 40-50 stitches after the accident. "I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike that he had put between 40 and stitches in," she revealed.
"I am grateful that it wasn't much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way," she added. "I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way. And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different."
