The 'Havana' hitmaker reveals that she 'had a moment of insecurity' and thought Blue didn't like her speech after she saw the little girl telling her parents to stop clapping.
"I had a moment of insecurity," the 20-year-old songstress revealed during a recent interview with BBC Radio 1. "I surprised myself. I was like, 'What does that mean?' I was like, 'I'm not going into this wormhole.' Do you think she didn't like my speech?"
Camila went on telling the radio host that she only saw the moment on social media despite being on stage at the time. "I literally had to stop because I can't think about what she was thinking, [but] I feel like she'd like me," she continued. "Thank God I didn't look down at the crowd while that was happening!"
The "Havana" hitmaker took the stage at the 2018 Grammys to deliver a moving speech about being an immigrant in the United States. Donning a white gown, she said, "Today, in this room full of music's dreamers, we remember that this country was built by dreamers, for dreamers, chasing the American dream."
"I'm here on this stage tonight because, just like the DREAMers, my parents brought me to this country with nothing in their pockets but hope," she continued. "They showed me what it means to work twice as hard and never give up. And honestly no part of my journey is any different from theirs."
She concluded her speech that night by stating that she is proud to be "a Cuban-Mexican immigrant, born in Eastern Havana, standing in front of you on the Grammy stage in New York City." She noted, "And all I know is, just like dreams, these kids can't be forgotten and are worth fighting for."
