Anderson Cooper Was Once Set Up With Andy Cohen, but Turned It Down

Anderson Cooper revealed that he almost went on a blind date with Andy Cohen, but it never happened because Cohen broke his cardinal rule.

Anderson Cooper stopped by "Watch What Happens Live" on November 30 alongside Kelly Ripa. Cooper revealed that he almost went on a blind date with the show's host Andy Cohen.

The CNN news anchor explained how he was set up with Cohen. "Andy and I were first set up on a blind date, which never happened because we had a phone call and after two minutes I was like, 'I'm not dating this guy,' " he recalled.

"He broke my cardinal rule. He mentioned my mom within the first four sentences of meeting me," Cooper said. Confirming his statement, Cohen said, "I was like, so, your mom is Gloria Vanderbilt!"

Cooper further explained, "If somebody does that, it's a deal-breaker, and we are never going on a date." Cooper's mother is the famous heiress, actress, fashion designer, socialite and descendant of the railroad and shipping magnate Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt.

The news anchor was also asked about whether he'd even been with a woman. He answered, "I've gone on a date or two with a woman." Another guest star Ripa pressed, "That's not answering the question." He then clarified, "I don't think I've done more than kissing a woman, yeah."

Cohen and Cooper ended up being close friends. The two are currently touring together with their unscripted show "AC2", which is an intimate evening of deep talk and shallow tales.
