Jimmy Kimmel Reveals How Much He Is Paid for Oscars-Hosting Gig

The 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' host says he receives a significantly low sum given the scale of the Academy Awards.

How much is Jimmy Kimmel paid for hosting the Academy Awards? The "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" revealed his paycheck for the hosting gig when he dropped by KROQ's Kevin & Bean morning show on Wednesday, December 14. It's clear that he did the gig not for the money.

The funnyman said that he was paid only $15,000. "You know why? I think it's illegal to pay nothing," he joked about the significantly small sum given the scale of the event. "I'm not sure I was supposed to reveal this, but nobody told me not to. I consider this their fault."

"They asked like 14 people and they all said no and then there was me," Kimmel cracked. "I absolutely was surprised." When asked if his pay was on par with previous hosts like Chris Rock and Billy Crystal, the comedian responded, "That's what they told me."

Now that he hosts the Oscars, will his annual after-show on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" proceed as usual? "We'll figure something out," he said.
